Repeating tasks

How to set a task to repeat, when the next one appears, how to skip or stop a repeat, and what carries over to the next task.

Jobs that happen every day, every week or every season can be set to repeat, so you do not have to write them out again.

Setting a task to repeat

To set a task to repeat, follow these steps:

  1. In a new task, select 'Repeat'

  2. Choose how often you want the task to repeat, such as every day, week, month or year, and set the repeat interval.

  3. Set a start date for the repeating task. You can also choose a due time, but this is optional.

  4. Choose when the task should stop repeating: 'Never' or 'On a date' to set an end date.

  5. Select 'Done' to save.

When the next repeating task appears

The next task is created when you complete the current task. It appears in your 'To do' list at the start of the day it is due, so you only see the repeating task that is currently relevant.

If you complete a task late

The next task will be due on the next scheduled repeat date after today. Halter will not create a task with a due date in the past.

When you’ll be notified
For repeating tasks, you will get a notification at 6am farm time on the day the task is due. If the task is due before 6am, you will get the notification at the task's due time instead.

Skipping or stopping a repeat

  • To skip one, either mark it as done or move its due date.

  • To stop the repeat for good, delete the task that is still to do. Nothing further is created.

  • If you complete one by mistake, moving it back to 'To do' before the next one appears cancels the next one.

What carries over to the next task

The next task keeps the:

  • Title

  • Description

  • Priority

  • Icon

  • Location

  • Linked pasture and animal

  • Assignees

Photos do not carry over to the next task.
