Linking a task to a paddock, an animal or a location

How to link a task to a paddock, an animal or a spot on the farm map, and how tasks with a location show on the live map.

Most jobs on farm relate to a specific place or animal. Linking a task makes it clear what the job relates to, whether that’s a paddock, an animal, or a specific location on the map.

What you can link a task to

You can link a task to one of three things:

  • A paddock

  • An animal

  • A location (a specific point on the farm map)

To link a task to a location, you must create the task from the Map tab.

Linking a task to a paddock

To link a task to a paddock, follow these steps:

  1. When creating a new task, select 'Linked to'.

  2. Select the 'Paddock' tab.

  3. Choose a paddock from the list or search for one in 'Search for a paddock'.

  4. Select 'Save'.

You can only link one paddock to a task.

Linking a task to an animal

To link a task to an animal, follow these steps:

  1. When creating a new task, select 'Linked to'.

  2. Select the 'Cow' tab.

  3. Choose an animal from the list, or search for one in 'Search for an animal'.

  4. Select 'Save'.

You can only link one animal to a task.

Linking a task to a location from the live map

To create a task at a specific location on your farm map:

  1. Press and hold the spot on the map where the task needs to be completed.

  2. A pop up menu will appear. Select 'Task'.

  3. Enter the task details and choose an icon. A marker shows where the task will be placed on the map.

  4. Assign the task to someone, set a priority or due date, or choose whether the task repeats.

  5. Select the green tick to save the task.

The task will appear on the map straight away and be added to your 'To do' list.

Selecting 'Map pin' creates a map pin as usual. Tasks and map pins are separate. Creating a task does not create a map pin, and creating a map pin does not create a task.

Viewing a task on the map

Tasks in your 'To do' list that have a location will appear on the Map tab with their task icon.

Completed tasks and tasks without a location will not appear on the map.

  1. Select a task icon on the map to view its details.

  2. From here, you can:

    • Select 'Mark as done' to complete the task.

    • Open the task to view its full details.
