Halter 101: Episode 1: Installing towers and collaring cows.

Welcome to a behind-the-scenes look at how Halter is set up—straight from our Research & Development Farm in the mighty Waikato, New Zealand.

In this video, we take you through everything from installing a Halter tower to collaring your first animals. You'll see how quick it is to get up and running (yes, even if you're not a pro with a post rammer), what makes our system plug-and-play, and the little details that make a big difference—instructions that are super easy to follow and labelled parts and boxes, like an IKEA order, but for your farm!

Whether you’re curious about how Halter works, prepping for your install, or just here for the farm banter and chaotic tower-building energy, this one's for you.

This video is just an example of installing towers and collaring cows. You will be provided with written instructions on how to set up your towers.

Our guide to collaring will differ slightly depending on the generation of collar being used. Risi is collaring with a P4 collar in this video.

Halter 101: Episode 2 - Training Cows on the Halter Collar (ft. CEO & Founder, Craig Piggott)

In this video, we show you how to train a herd with a Halter, guided by none other than Halter founder, Craig Piggott, returning to his family farm where it all began.

This video is just an example of training dairy cows in New Zealand with Halter. We'll always provide customers with the latest detailed training guidelines as part of their onboarding.

All dairy cows should be trained following: Animal Training: Training your cows

Halter 101: Episode 3 - Pasture Management with Halter (ft. Halter farmer Hamish McClennan)

Welcome to a day on the dairy farm with Hamish McLennan, based just outside of Ngatea on the Hauraki Plains, New Zealand. With 720 cows, 240 hectares, and a no-fuss 50-bail shed, Hamish is making the most of Halter to simplify daily tasks and reclaim time. In this video, we follow Hamish as he uses Halter to:

  • Cross-check automatic pasture covers

  • Plan and allocate virtual breaks

  • Remotely shift cows for afternoon milking

  • Schedule the rest of the day's herd movements—all from his phone (in the dining room!)

Along the way, we chat about how Halter has made life easier for staff, improved feed accuracy, helped reduce lameness, and even created space for family time and school cross-country days.
